We plan to take the yacht from Gibraltar to the Caribbean via the Cape Verde's and we are looking for an experienced skipper and 2 additional crew to assist us on this adventure. All participants are welcome to view the yacht in advance should they wish to. In addition, we would like to meet you personally if based in the U.K. and for those further afield, we can arrange a Skype etc. The yacht will be well prepared ahead of departure and all safety equipment reviewed and if required, serviced or replaced. Safety of the yacht, crew and other sailors is the most important factor. Having a great team on-board and having fun on this adventure is why we want to do this trip so we are looking for like minded people. Please note that smoking is not allowed. Alcohol consumption whilst on passage will not be permitted. Skipper You will need to be Yachtmaster Ocean certified and Ideally, be instructor qualified. We are looking for a person that is a confident sailor and has proven experience. You will be expected to take part in all aspects from maintenance and cleaning to preparing meals. Crew I am looking for 2 crew who have passage experience. You will need to be confident keeping watch, navigation and keen to partake in all elements from maintenance and cleaning to preparing meals. We are a family of 4 and we are the 2nd owners of this yacht. As of yet I am not sure if the other 3 family members will be joining. They may may meet us in St. Lucia on the dock with a cold beer or G&T. A bit about me: I have been sailing since about the age of 13 mainly on dinghy's and small keelboats. I completed my 'Competent Crew' course in South Africa (1990 - Makes me feel very old) and have subsequently logged 18000 miles as crew on yachts. I have also completed a Day Skippers and a RYA First Aid course. I have skippered yachts which I have chartered in the Pacific, Croatia, BVI's and Guadaloupe. Ahead of leaving Gibraltar I am aiming to complete a Yachtmaster Coastal, PSSR, Personal Survival Techniques and a basic Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting course. I still have an lot to learn about Skippering a yacht on a passage so I would like an experienced Yachtmaster to lead us. Although I am the owner of the boat, I am also one of the crew and will be partaking in cooking, cleaning, navigation, watch keeping etc. If you would like to join me / us, please contact me. I look forwards to hearing from you.
