Looking for: Worldwide opportunities
Experience: 10000 ocean miles / 5000 coastal miles
After almost 20 years of extensive corporate life, we (I and my wife) decided to take a long-term break and dedicate time and energy to what we like most - sailing and motorbiking. Started in May 2015; since that our experience combines regular studying & practicing; training in the tidal region; some expertise in preparing a boat for the season including hull polishing, removing & painting antifouling; as well as possess basic practical knowledge of rigging installation & tuning. Skipper license (on-shore) - Turkey - May 2015. Tidal & streams training - Solent, UK - April 2016. Sailed regions - two Atlantic crossings (Est-West & West-East), Brasil, Lesser Antilles, Puerto-Rico, Bahamas, USA, Bermudas, Azores, Gibraltar, Baleares, Lipary, Malta, Mediterranean, Adriatic, Baltics, Northern Sea, Solent, the English Channel, Channel Islands, Kiel channel, Standing Mast Route (Netherlands inner waters). Mileage - 14 000 nm (Yaro), 12 000 nm (Yulia). Red Cross first aid certificate (both). Industrial alpinist certificate (Yaro). Languages - Russian (native), English (fluent). Financially sustainable. Ready to share respective expenses. Both are non-smokers. Personal - easy going, impossible-is-nothing mentality. Remain calm in non-standard / difficult situations. Prefer simple, basic food yet able to enjoy fine cuisine and a glass of good wine. On the other hand, remain adequate without any "fuel" for reasonable time if situation requires. Believe that common sense should prevail, preparation is king and confident sense of humor is one of the key tools of survival. Admire to sail, widen respective skills, learn all aspects of sailing and want to work hard for it. Open to any adventures while long-term passages in various conditions would be a preferred option. We'd be happy to join an experienced skipper / team to learn from them before commencing our own sailing life. We're NOT TOURISTS, but full-time players and crew members for all aspects of life on board. Apart from sailing in different regions we possess some experience of boat maintenance and care, and always treat whatever property (rented houses, cars, charted or friends' boats) as it was our own. We're open-minded, easygoing people, appreciate sense of humor, respect personal space when required, yet easy to communicate. We prefer to keep things organized and clean, and do not hesitate to take our hands in this. At the same time we remain flexible once it comes to routes planning or depending on weather conditions. We're open to learn new stuff and want to work hard to gain knowledge and practical skills. We'd be delighted to become good companions and share both pleasant and challenging moments following any long trip.
