I am an intrepid traveller at heart, and have been lucky to have had many great experiences. I studied mechanical engineering at Warwick Uni, then took a job with a multinatioanl engineering company allowing me to take work placements in Germany and the USA where I spent a few years. At the end of my contract, I felt the need to go travelling, and so simply headed west. I flew to Fiji, and hung around on some local islands. By chance, a yacht turned up, and one evening a man came ashore. He explained that he was heading to New Zealand. I had always wanted to travel back home without flying, and so this seemed the perfect start to my adventure. I took a chance, never looked back. We stopped at Vanuatu, then New Caledonia where he decided to remain a little longer. So I joined another crew to New Zealand. Following time in New Zealand and Austrailia, I made it to Darwin where I joined another crew to Bali in Indonesia. I continued my travels through Asia, Russia and back to the UK where I have been for the past 7 years. I have always been good with my hands, and so I tried my hands at building, which I still do to this day. I particularly like carpentry, but have pretty much tackled most trades. This has lent itself well to my passion to go off grid and practice permaculture. Maybe my mechanical mind or building skills may come in handy. I can cook if needs be, but my meals are more healthy than delicious, so my father who is a good cook tells me. I haven't been travelling nor sailing on a big adventure for 8 years, and I am keen to do so again. Truth be told, I don't remember any of the specifics about sailing. Maybe some will come back to me, but I would rather be considered a beginner who can learn quickly. | |
