I have been sailing since I was a teenager. It was always a dream that I get top quality “blue water boat” and sail her to beautiful places. I’ve been fortunate. In 2010, while I was still running my software company, I took the leap and got a Chuck Paine designed Able 42. I showered her with time and money, keeping her in great condition. Over 11 years, we did a two seasons in the bahamas, two winters in the BVI and an awesome trip up to the top of Nova Scotia. And, of course, lots of coastal cruising in my backyard - the coast of Maine. I sold my company in 2018 and decided a bigger boat to live on and enjoy more far off places was in order. In 2020, I took delivery of a virtually new Amel 50 in Antibes France. We did three season in the Med and just recently returned to the Caribbean via the ARC 2023 Las Palmas to St Lucia Rally. Cruising Corsica, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Spain was amazing. Some thoughts on my sailing philosophy: I strive of a collaborative and collegial experience for everybody. I will always be learning. Sailing optimal is ideal - flat, fast and just the right sail combination (someday we will achieve our polars). When making long passages, best to slow it down at night Talk through all maneuvers. No drama and few surprises. Great food is key. My boats will have the just right amount of the best equipment and every item has its place I love when everything is tidy and properly cleaned/ polished. | |
