Looking for: Worldwide opportunities
Experience: 30000 ocean miles / 7000 coastal miles
I'm 64 years old and retired on December 22, 2017. I stand 6’, weight 210 lbs. and in excellent health and fairly strong (in 2015 I ran the LA marathon) on my 60th B-day. After 38 years in Information Technology (server side), changing professions after a long hiatus from work. I have my captain’s license OUPV Coastal Waters, will to use it or not as I gain blue water miles. I would like to be considered for any length of travel, as I plan to sail and trek land for a few years. For sailing experience, the longest run to date has been two 18 days at sea, where I was a member of a 4 man crew on a Jeanneau 52, being delivered from Hawaii to Los Angeles after the 2011 TransPac. March/April 2018 as I crewed on a 44 Leopard catamaran from Galapagos to Hiva Oa, 18 days. Then I stayed on board for a total of 42 nights, as we visited several islands on our way to Tahiti I’ve been boating all my life and sailing since 2006. With sailboat racing since 2007 of J/120’s, Farr 40’s and Beneteau 44.7, plus several smaller sailing vessels lengthens of 9m to 12 meters. I’ve sailed on over a dozen one or two night races from San Francisco to Monterrey and Los Angeles to Mexico. Recently sailed from St Lucia to Santa Marta, Columbia, Galapagos to Marquesas. Able to steer to a compass heading, lead night watch, trim main sails and fly a spinnaker, run pit and well as mast and fore-deck. I’m a good cook, good with my hands – carpentry, sail mending, some knowledge of electrical/12 volt systems, plumbing and engines. I can read a navigate using a paper chart, work a chart-plotter, radar, GPS and radio. I have my safety at sea certificate and CPR/1st Aid training. I have chartered bare boats and currently own an Islander 28 berthed in San Francisco. I wish to offer my skills, knowledge and camaraderie to you. Sailing has been my passion for now 10 years, it sort of keeps me sane. :) Above all I can be trusted to do what I’m asked and trusted to do what I say. I don’t complain, I’m respectful, neat and can get along with everyone. BTW, I’m a non-smoker, who enjoys a beer or glass of wine occasionally. If I left anything out that you wish to know about me or my skills, please email me at [email protected] I'm currently in Brazil or Grenada looking to go to Europe or the Med.
