I grew up in a sailing family on Maui, Hawaii. I've grown up on sailboats since I was little, went to junior sailing every summer, and now work on my family's charter boat company as crew. We got our family boat when I was 7 and sailed all around the islands of Hawaii multiple times. When I was 15 my family and I sailed our Lidguard 35 from our home town Lahaina, Maui to French Polynesia. We arrived first in Bora Bora and spent 3 months sailing and exploring the other islands there. During and after college I worked as crew on the boat when my Dad turned the boat into a charter business. Sadly, our awesome family boat full of memories was burned in the recent wildfire that destroyed my whole hometown and so I am planning to go to Europe at the end of September for a backpacking trip and no longer have a job to come back to. I found out about the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers through my old Captain and have become very interested in completing another ocean crossing. I figured since I will be in Europe anyway it would be a good time to look into it! I have a lot of ocean sailing under my belt for being younger. I have crossed all the gnarliest channels in Hawaii numerous times and the Pacific Ocean, I'd love to add the Atlantic Ocean to that list. I have lots of experience driving, trimming sails, can cook below if need, and I'm familiar with being on watches when doing ocean crossings. When sailing to Tahiti my family did 4 hours on & 4 off, 2 people on watch at all times. I am very familiar with the boat I grew up sailing, but I am a coachable person and learn pretty fast, so I am confident I can adapt to a different boat.
