Experience: | 3750 ocean miles / 1969 coastal miles |
RYA Yachtmaster Ocean (2019) with experience in tidal waters around Wales, Bristol Channel and Falmouth, with further experience in the Mediterranean and Canaries. Watch Leader for 3800 miles from Falklands to Cape Town in Southern Ocean using only celestial navigation to navigate in 2019. Looking for Atlantic sailing opportunities in 2021/2022 such as Canaries to Caribbean and UK to Canaries. Also interested in other opportunities to cross the Atlantic. I have certificates for first aid, sea survival, VHF and food hygiene; limited experience with radar and sophisticated electronics. Sea miles sailed: Ocean: 3750, Coastal: 1969 with 109 days aboard and 177 night hours on watch. I’m 56 years old and live on a smallholding in Carmarthenshire in the west of Wales; UK citizen. Most of my career was in computer software sales with the likes of Oracle; I'm now semi-retired. I’m not a smoker, I drink socially (I brew my own beer, cider and wine), I’m a good cook, I have a partner of 30 years who is happy to sail with me in the Med once a year for week – he’s content to leave the ocean sailing to me. I’m a qualified scuba diver and scuba gas mixer, and an avid kayaker on local rivers and on the sea. I enjoy coastal fishing, and have been deep sea fishing (wahoo, dorado and tuna) but can’t say that I have any real skill or expertise in the art of catching fish. I look forward to hearing from anyone who may have a sailing opportunity that would be mutually beneficial. Cheers, Michael | |
