I am a friendly sociable, fit and healthy 71 year old who started sailing around 1978. I completed a Day skipper course in 1981 at the now defunct NSC at Cowes when the great Tom Cunliffe was one of the instructors. I have since sailed as crew and captain on a number of boats starting with a Trapper 500, a Contessa 26 across the Bay of Biscay - before the delights of GPS! An Elizabethan 33 crossing the Channel a number of times, I then bought a Cheoy Lee Taipan 28', followed by a Tania 55' motor cruiser which I lived on with my family in Hong Kong, having sold that (not the family!) I purchased a Prout 45 catamaran, sailing it around the islands of Hong Kong and a trip across the South China Sea to the Philippines. On returning to the UK I bought a Hallberg Rassy 352 sailing across the North Sea to Holland on 3 occasions and around the East coast of the UK. I downsized to a Rival 32 in 2014 and after a complete refit sailed to Oban via the Caledonian canal. I then spent 3 wonderful years sailing off NW Scotland mostly singlehanded. I hold a MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate obtained in 2017. When eventually the weather got to me I and 1 crew member sailed the Rival to Southern Brittany from where every year I sailed to Northern Spain. I very reluctantly sold her last June 2023. I am willing and able to travel anywhere to meet your boat and crew in whatever position you desire. I can cook and am a dab hand at boat maintenance having looked after my boats as and when required. Unfortunately my reduced financial circumstances mean I am unable to share expenses. | |
