Goals: - Enhance professional skipper skills on sail boats at open-ocean cruising levels on boats, with intent to use them mainly for recreational sailing. - Participate in as many sailing events as possible to further add to, and improve the existing skills. Experience: - Joined Pentagon Sailing Club (PSC) in February 2013, attended all (sailing) classes that year, including Basic Keelboat Training, Navigation, Rules of the Road, Bareboat Chartering etc., sailed on the Potomac River. - Completed ASA 101/103 on 04/21/2013. - Participated in educational bay sail with David Kunselman (PSC) on 04/28/2013. Provided navigational advice and was a deck hand. - As crew on a two day/night sail with Roger Hammer (PSC), experienced gale force winds of up to 45 knots for couple of hours crossing the Chesapeake Bay on 06/28-06/29, 2013. - From 09/10 to 09/22, 2013 sailed the Med as crew (of only 3) the Cyclades (GR), Crete, rounded the Peloponnesus Peninsula, and crossed Korinthos Canal, on a Beneteau Oceanis 52. Created Float Plan, sailed winds up to 25 knots, did some night sailing, GPS route, way-point setups, and traditional navigation, anchoring, docking and boat maintenance. Total distance sailed: about 650 NM. - Completed ASA 105 on 04/27/2014; ASA 104 on 09/07/2015. - Cruised seven days the Northern Chesapeake Bay September 1-7, 2015. - Skippered 3 day trip south of Annapolis, MD, October 23-25, 2015. - Crossed the Atlantic from Antigua to UK, Hanse 505, March -May 2016.
