I am fit, adaptable, resourceful, an all-round crew member who can sail, cook, and repair things when they go wrong. I don't smoke, I enjoy telling stories, having conversations, sharing experiences. I am keen to pursue further blue-water opportunities.. Outside sailing I am a freelance designer, visiting professor, professional photographer and writer who is social-media savvy. After many years of off-shore racing now I am more interested in blue-water ocean passages. A brief summary of my experience:- 2019 - Delivery of Spirit 65 Classic from Antigua to Newport RI. Watch leader in crew of 5. 1,640 n miles. 2017 - Delivery of Swan 46 from mediterranean to Suffolk, UK. Watch leader. Stop-offs in Gibraltar, Lagos, Baiona (Galicia), Falmouth, Torquay, Cowes. Approx 2,500 n miles. 2016 - I sailed double-handed in Sweden and Denmark in a Swan 47. Approx 600 miles. 2015 - I did the Palermo - Montecarlo race on a 42' race boat plus delivery back to Naples (circa 1000 miles). 2014 - ARC had long been an ambition for me as a step-up to blue water sailing. Sailing as watch-leader and Navigator/Tactician in the Lagoon 450 WIPACA in ARC+ was a dream - using my navigational skills to help win the prize for first multihull across the pond was an added bonus. The Pacific and Round-The-World will hopefully follow. I'm a very experienced sailor having started racing dinghies in my teens graduating to keel boats and offshore racing in the RORC series. Sailed many different types of yachts from one-design to IOR Grand Prix one-ton; two-ton; etc. Winning crew on many class winning boats including top boat in Fastnet 89; Winner of Brent Walker European Trophy Brighton-Cadiz 1992; Englands Commodores Cup team in 1996; etc... I have owned and skippered my own yacht at various coastal locations around the UK so I know how to take care of your boat too... Summer 2015 crewed in Pelermo to Monte Carlo race and delivered yacht back to Naples via Amalfi coastal cruise. I am friendly and gregarious; happy to share funny stories on those long watches; non-smoking; qualified engineer happy to fix and maintain things around the boat; reasonable and inventive cook; top sail trimmer and helmsman and I don't usually get sea-sick..(famous last words?). I'm loyal and turn-up where and when I say I will. When the going gets tough I can be relied on. Drop me a contact email and I can send you my full sailing CV. | |
