Returning to sailing after a long break. Former tech entrepreneur, venture capitalist, consultant, and one-time nuclear physicist. Came of age living in 6 countries (albeit mostly US/Europe). Speak increasingly bad French and Spanish. I've dabbled in everything from standup comedy (including mainstage DC Improv. I'm a great source of bad puns and old jokes) to skydiving (competed 2012 US Nationals). Voracious reader. History lover. Easy going, tidy, quiet, amiable, able to sleep anywhere, get along with most people. Hard worker. Never panic. Good in an emergency. Looking for time on the water with friendly crews. Prefer task-oriented performance sailing and longer offshore passages to island hopping (I love seeing new places, but one beach looks al lot like another after a while). ARC? World ARC? All possible if we get along, and joining an existing crew/boat might be more fun than setting out solo. SAILING THINGS ASA 108 'Offshore Passage Making' cert. (the *far* less rigorous US cousin to 'RYA Yachtmaster Ocean'). Competent old-school navigator, including cel. nav. USCG 'Marine Radio Operator' and ham/amateur radio operator licenses. Strong at repairs and general fix-it, including carpentry, fiberglass, plumbing, electrical, etc.,. Grew up dinghy racing. Experienced diver. One-time firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician including improvised/"wilderness medicine" training. Fledgling pilot and licensed US (FAA) commercial drone pilot. My last offshore passage was 1,900 sea miles (nm) from Newport RI (US) to BVI in a 35ft cat with a crew of four. Dodged one hurricane. Typical minor mechanical hiccups en route (at night, in rough seas, of course). Otherwise recent sailing has been in Sea of Cortez - a admitted nice change from England / New England, where I learned.
