I like to challenge myself, stay calm and always keep a positive attitude, whilst seeing the opportunity in a difficult situation. The days from boarding school to my training in the EUOTC have all helped develop my teamwork skills, it is the tough times when I have the greatest camaraderie between people in the same boat. I am an experienced sailor with a desire to work in the marine industry in the future. I have been a keen sailor since my first lesson aged 7, I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in dinghy racing throughout my time at school. At the age of 16 I decided to try yachting and took part in a fantastic week sailing across the south coast of Britain. I eventually got my RYA day skipper qualification in 2018 and have since been working towards my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. My family are fortunate enough to have a sailing yacht in Falmouth which I now enjoy competently taking out in the summer when I am not busy with my summer job at Falmouth Marina. I am very keen to get into yacht racing, although I have found it hard to spare the time at university so haven't done as much as I had hoped to, now university is finished I hope to really get stuck in over the next year or so. | |
