Experience: 7000 ocean miles / 1000 coastal miles
I have been a boat owner and skipper for 15 years, commencing my boat ownership with a 23ft Leisure sailing boat. I purchased my current boat (a 1986 Moody 37) in August 2007 and have sailed many miles in her including the trip from Southampton to Vilagarcia in Northern Spain. Where I kept the boat for 12 months whilst visiting the various ports in the Spanish Rias. I then took her to the west cost of Portugal (Sines) for a further year until moving her to the Algarve (Albufeira) for 2 years. In 2012 I took her to her current base of Rubicon Marina on the island of Lanzarote, where she remains to date. From here, I have visited most of the Canary Islands over the last 6 years. I have travelled around 8,000 sea miles and have in excess of 400 night hours in my log. I am qualified to RYA Day Skipper (With BOSS Sailing school, based in Southampton). In addition to the delivery trips for my own boat, I recently undertook an additional Biscay crossing to assist a friend and his wife take their boat from France to Northern Spain. Additionally, I have acted as competent crew for the BOSS sailing school during costal and offshore YM examinations. I am now looking for expenses paid sailing /delivery opportunities. The longer trips (as opposed to day sailing) are by far my preference. I am available for periods / passages of up to one month.
