My name is Finlay aged 20, based in Jersey UK. I started sailing aged 9 and come with a strong racing background, having competed in and won, a whole string of regattas and sailing events, both locally and abroad (full details in c.v.) I am an RYA qualified instructor and taught sailing for 5 years at the Royal Channel Island Yacht Club in Jersey. I also have a PB2. In 2017, I was invited to represent Great Britain in Bermuda, (in the Endeavour Programme, which is an integral part of the America’s Cup). I came second against a strong international team and the LINK is here >> ( https://www.yachtscoring.com/event_results_detail.cfm?eid=4374&Race_Number=1&RaceClass=Hobie%20Wave )< As an avid sailor, I am happy setting sails, including spinnakers and cruising chutes / trimming sails – mainsail and foresail/jib / reefing / navigating with GPS / anchoring using ribs/tenders / heaving-to / watch-keeping. In 2020, just after my 18th birthday I sailed (single handed mostly) a 50’ Jeanneau from Greece to Spain. Then in November 2020, I was asked to join the crew of a Hylas 63 to sail from Cape Verde to Antigua. I was then a temporary captain of an Axopar 37 chase boat, in the Balearics. I subsequently returned home to work for Jersey Ports with the marina staff. For most of 2022 I was first mate aboard a busy charter M/Y based in St Helier. I now have over 10,000 n.miles logged, including many hours of night watch, gained in the Med and on my trans Atlantic crossing. I am looking for a challenging, responsible and exciting opportunity as crew, aboard an MY or SY cruiser/racer, where I can contribute my skills and develop them further. I am a non smoker, with no tattoos and considered articulate, sociable, conscientious, a team player that’s able to get the job done and people say, I’m good company too. I also speak reasonable Spanish and am fairly well travelled in Europe and many parts of South America, eg Brasil, Uruguay, Argentina and Colombia (full details in my c.v). I hold a British passport, a US visa, a Discharge Book and I am able to be at your port of departure promptly. Please do not hesitate to view or ask for my one page c.v. and my references. Looking forward to hearing from you. | |
