*** Interested in ARC 2022 *** Please note I am part of a couple. My partner has limited sailing experience and would join me as part of any crew I join. We are taking delivery of a Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 in Fall 2023 and would like to experience an Atlantic passage before we do it ourselves. I started sailing when I was 8, over 50 years ago. Since then, I've owned keel boats ranging from 30 to 43 feet and still have a 15 foot dinghy that I sailed 40 years ago. With the exception of once chartering a 38 foot catamaran in the BVIs, I've always sailed in the Great Lakes of Canada. I've taken courses on sail trim, VHF radio operation and basic navigation. I'm comfortable using GPS chart plotters, anchoring, leaving and coming back to dock (in a monohull), and reefing sails. I am an engineer and can do basic maintenance on diesel engines and electrical systems. As examples, in the past I've replaced boats' instrumentation, changed our boat's head to electric flush, installed tank monitors, replaced mast wiring and I always do my own annual maintenance on our engine, transmission and water systems. All of my experience has been coastal sailing - no overnight passages. Also, I do not have keel boat experience handling large fore deck sails such as spinnakers.
