hello! I am looking to crew sometime between May - June 2024. I have a good amount of experience working on tall ships and want to get more comfortable on smaller vessels. I sailed most recently on the Adventuress, a gaff rigged schooner up in Washington. I was the program coordinator and ran sailing education and citizen-science programs alongside our captain and supervised a crew of 12 deckhands. In 2011 I sailed aboard the Corwith Cramer, a brigantine out of Woods Hole as a Sea Education Association student. I was doing oceanographic research on the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on the Gulf of Mexico, and then sailing the ship back up to MA from FL. In between those times I have sailed a bit up in BC on keelboats in the Straight of Georgia and on friends boats up in WA, and while in college I worked on a cruiser in the Hudson Valley. I have always tempered my sailing with a lot of time in the desert, predominantly working with humanitarian aid efforts along the US-Mexico border as an EMT and immigration legal advocate, and now in CA as a legal advocate for community members facing ICE detention and deportation. I have a chunk of time off before a new job begins and I'm hoping to go sailing! | |
