Greetings' Sailors! According to my birth certificate I'm 64 -whoa, such a big number; but no where near ready to stick a fork in me and call it done. I enjoy the Adventure life provides. Professionally I am a retired Chiropractic Physician, but long long ago in a land far far away I was a Firefighter for several years. I Started sailing as a kid in the Puget Sound, and gathered a love for the sea. Sailed off and on adult life. Taught sailing beginners course in San Diego, CA in the early 90's. Most recently trips to the Saronic Islands, Greece; trips in the BVI's and USVI's, Cabo San Lucas, BC, Mexico. In the details I put 1000mi of coastal cruising because I really have no idea how many miles travel -mostly along the Southern California Coast over years. I also Only listed the last four quasi yearly trips, because as I go further back in time it gets more sketchy as to days, months travelled etc., in full disclosure the last 25 years my time on the water was limited, compared to the 70's 80's and 90's. Back in 1990 I'd met an old couple -they were in their 60's then, and they regaled stories and showed me the photo albums of their times and crossings heading on circumnavigation. That gave me the desire and goal to circumnavigate... life sort of gets in the way of things; then about a year ago I met a friend who'd often thunk about circumnavigation. thus, started taking more opportunities on the water. Now am trying to work a plan to that end, even if it is as crew over time on others boats; vice my own. I am a lifelong athlete; ran dozens of marathons or further; Ironman triathlons, and shorter triathlons; but not that competitive because as a 200 pounder I can't keep up with the friends who weigh-in at 150 :-) . love the ocean and the outdoors, always been a bit of an adventurer. (I think) I am a good natured kind of guy, love people and making new friends, I believe in keeping my attitude as a service above self. ready and willing to help the captain, ship and crew in areas needed. I understand my resume may be on the thin side as far as recent sailing history goes, however, eager, willing, able and desirous to make some ocean crossings. I deeply appreciate any consideration my way. | |
