Hi,
I’ve left behind my career in optometry in order to have the flexibility to pursue my outdoor interests of sailing, Munro bagging and skiing.
I would like to find a boat to join for Atlantic ARC/ARC+ 2023 or ARC January 2024, however I’m keen to get out asap to start building rapport with skippers and crew.
I’ve been crewing in the British Isles and the Mediterranean this summer and have had quite a bit of recent experience doing night watch and sailing in rough sea conditions.
I completed RYA day skipper many years ago and would say I’m currently somewhere between comp crew and day skipper. I’m booked to do RYA sea survival September 2024. I have a lot to offer as a hard working and fun crew member.
I’m an easy going individual who enjoys the company of calm patient folks. I’m not interested in competitive sail racing at this stage.
I love the rhythm of life on a yacht, the opportunity to chat, learn and explore with others. I am excellent at creating a supportive, happy and caring environment onboard.
My longest stint sailing was round the Kimberley coastline on a gap year in Australia in the mid 1990’s. That was 2 months of wilderness experiences, which really ignited my love of the yachting life. Since then when my career in retail and health sectors allowed I have done RYA sail training holidays and volunteered as crew on sail training boats, sporadically due to work and family commitments. Now I’m free to finally apply practically the knowledge gained on all those courses.
I’ve cruised on the west coast of Scotland, in the Caribbean, the Lofoten Islands, the Ionian Sea and most recently from Troon on the West coast of Scotland over to Ireland then Wales, motoring round Lands End and the Lizard in Force 6/7 doing solo night watches from 26/7/23-17/8/23 and from Sardinia to Menorca, also doing solo night watches.
If your someone who enjoys sharing your knowledge and seeing those around you develop and benefit from that sharing do get in touch.
Happy sailing! |
