| I began sailing El Toro's (6') on a lake I grew up on in the suburbs of the bay area of San Francisco. I enjoyed a few sailing trips in high school on the bay and have always found a way to get some sailing in. A few years ago I shared a Cal 26 with a neighbor and did a number of day sailing trips in the Puget Sound, where I now live. I was able to do 2 10 day cruises with my kids to the San Juan islands. I retired 2 years ago, from software engineering, and am looking for more adventures. I'm torn between getting a van and travelling the national parks or getting a sailboat. My wife loves to be at home, so she lets me get out and do some adventures when I get a chance. I am contemplating getting my ASA certificates, perhaps in the next year or so, but right now hoping to get some more experience. I've been a certified scuba diver for years, just not a lot of dives in, as I took a hiatus when the kids were growing up. | |
