Having sailed dinghies as a child, I then progressed to yachts through the sailing club at work, and now have more than 20 years experience of sailing yachts. Over the years I have gained my Yachtmaster theory and practical, and Yachtmaster Ocean theory, with the final interview outstanding. I owned a half share of a Hylas 49 for 5 years, and for the last 5 years have sailed a Taswell 49 with my partner, most of the sailing and passages being double handed. Over the years I have done a number of Biscay crossings both on my own boat, my partner's boat and deliveries for friends. I also did the Fastnet in 2011 on a Sigma, and the qualifying RORC races. I have spent the last 4 years sailing to and in the Mediterranean, before sailing back to the UK from Sicily ahead of sailing to Las Palmas for the ARC+2022 to Grenada, West Indies. For the Atlantic crossing we had 4 people on board. I am happy and confident to do night watches alone, and have usually been responsible for the provisioning and cooking on board regardless of the angle of the boat! I enjoy helming, passage planning, and being part of the team on board. I believe I am an easy going crew member, happy to muck in and calm in a crisis. I am a member of the OCC, RYA and Newbury Yacht Club.
