My primary aim is to sail the ARC in 2023. It has always been my dream to sail around the world but due to work commitments until now I have never had the opportunity. Now, however, I have the time and have been sailing extensively for the last 6 years around Spain and am now ready to do a trans-Atlantic voyage. I have just completed my Capitan de Yate qualification which is the Spanish equivalent to the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean. However, that was not the start of my sailing life. I started sailing at age 9 in Snipes and then in 470s in which I competed regularly at club level and occasionally at national level (in Spain). I started sailing yachts when I was in my 30s, my first being a Janneau First 27. Since then I have sailed a variety of boats up to 43ft. Generally, I have been either the skipper or helmsman but am more than happy in any role. For my first 5 years in Spain I sailed a Bavaria 31, often solo but am now sailing a Janneau Sun Odyssey 36i, again often solo. I am rarely seasick, am a good listener and communicator and I do travel light. I am respectful, clean & tidy, committed, eager to learn & work and am fit & healthy. I am also friendly, polite, a bit of a perfectionist, am diligent, have a positive outlook and am skilled, organised, discreet, trustworthy, open minded, enthusiastic, easy going with a good sense of humour. I don't mind cleaning, am good with maintenance and can follow orders. Apart from my interests and attributes listed above, I enjoy reading, music and am (still) learning to play the electric guitar. I'm in OK shape (for my age) and go to the gym regularly as well as cycle. I am very easy to get on with and am respectful of other people’s space. I love boats. When I was living and working in London, I bought an oiler and converted it in to my permanent home. I accept that I'll most probably never own a yacht so my only way of achieving my dreams is to crew. I am happy to do all tasks but I will give advance warning that as a cook I probably rank as the worst on the planet.....but I am more than happy to clear up!
