| Hi. My name is Alan Slater and I am a fit 61 year old retired Counter Terrorism Detective, having served 30 years in the Metropolitan Police. I am a qualified yacht master Ocean and I have owned several boats, the last being a 40’ Jeanneau that I owned for 12 years. I sailed Lola from Southampton to the Mediterranean where we cruised for 5 months every summer for 8 years. I have also skippered and raced in offshore events in the PSUK National Offshore Championships from 2001. I am a practical person with a secure and verifiable history, having been security vetted to DV level. I also have some great stories to tell from my time in the Police, especially my last 10 years as a Detective Sergeant in the Anti Terrorist Branch, Special Branch and the Counter Terrorism Command. I have 25 years sailing experience and covered thousands of miles on a variety of different boats upto, and including a Swan 55 in the Swan Nationals. I have completed two Bay of Biscay crossings and sailed short handed in very heavy weather. I have sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Chesapeake Bay and Southampton to Cork and back for Cork week. I can provide references, a CV and copies of my sailing qualifications as and when required. | |
