Marc Verstraete vdw wants 2 crew for BONOBO, Banana 43 , 12m.

From Shelter bay Marina, Panama to Tahiti, French Polynesia.

February 2015 to February 2016.

Dear Candidate to the big pacific jump... You would like to joins us on Bonobo Be aware of a few important “details”... 1- This is a French speaking, Belgian flag-boat; with English as second or third language ... We would appreciate a person with skills in Spanish. 2- We did not win the lottery, so we cannot invite you on board for free; we are not looking for a “professional” skipper or crew who is looking for a salary! 3- Except if you are a world-class “chef”, a First officer marine mechanic, a MIT graduate in Electricity, electronic or mechanic.... You will have to participate in the cost of the food and boat-expenses. 4- PLEASE, we are not looking for “sea gipsies” or “marina bums”! Sorry if I offend some but we had bad experiences and prefer to be clear from day one! WE do not travel on the “cheap” The number of crewmembers divides ALL costs for the crossing equally. This includes food, diesel, car rentals for excursions and food shopping, hotels, marinas during the trip, expenses for diving (compressor gas etc...) Experience has thought us that, for a short period of time; like a 15 to 20 days “holiday” on the boat on has to spend around 50 euro a day Max. PP for a 5-Star time on the boat including all gourmet food, car, marina, restaurants, Wines and other alcohols, etc ... Longer stays, including ocean crossings will generally have you spend 15-20 Euros max. per day PP. Bonobo is a Epicurean and gastronomic boat!!! We eat Fillet steak, New York stripp, fresh fish, fruit and veggies, gourmet cans and good wines. We do take an “aperitif” at 11h and 18h and go out dinner when possible...There are one “freezer” and two fridges on board. Rise and pasta are “emergency” food and not the daily pittance... 5- The difference between BONOBO and a cruse ship? 5000 Euros PP a week :-) You WILL eat at the captains table everyday :-) you WILL dive with a real dive instructor, you WILL discover places with a historian and you WILL help keeping the boat moving and keep you watch-time on top of your other appointed duty that will be assigned to you depending of your skills. :-) 6- Experience, same as above, if you are not a genius in the above options, you NEED sea experience! Not necessarily SAIL experience but “boat” experience. You NEED to be able to keep a watch on your own!!! We do are looking mainly for an excellent kook who can be in charge of the provisioning or a mechanic and willing to learn to keep watch!! 7- The candidate needs to be part of the “family”! Not be a “outsider” and be compatible with our “lifestyle” ... The goal is the “share” the adventure! We are a free thinking couple, not shy and absolutely NOT puritan... Living on a sailboat in the south-pacific is living free and naked ... Sea, sex and rock & roll :-) 8- Your are boarding for a very long trip with NO escape! After leaving Panama end of February, a few days crossing in the “las Perlas” islands, your next stop to fly home will be the Galapagos after one week (not cheap) PS: Be aware there is a serious costly “landing fee” per person to visit the Galapagos!!! Then the Gambier islands after around 30 days at sea, (one private flight per week to Tahiti ...not cheap) and last, after spending a few months in the Gambier and the Tuamutu islands, Tahiti. BE AWARE the total trip might take ONE year... 9- The captain is responsible for the crew.... So, a PASSEPORT valid at lease ONE year is mandatory, this passport will be handed over to the captain upon arriving on board as the maritime law prescribe. The candidate will have obtained all the necessary VISAS prior to the departure! WARNING! South African passports, Non EU passports need a US and Polynesian visa! US Passports are restricted to 3 months in Polynesia without a visa!!! A return ticket to your homeland or the amount to pay for a return ticked has to be handed over to the captain! Polynesian authorities and sea law request this! 10- Finally, the boat ... Bonobo is a 43f. catamaran made in Aluminium. Fully equipped for long passages and nice time on the mooring. The main purpose of the boat is diving, so the spaces are “open” to be able to move freely with dive gear, there is a compressor on board. A water- maker, a generator. NO air-conditioning, sorry ... Only TWO cabins with a LARGE bed for two person. So if you are alone you have a lot of private room, otherwise you will share a large room and bed. It never posed problems in the past. 11- Still interested? More questions??? Feel free to send us a private message with extended CV and recent pictures! Thank you and.... see you soon ... maybe :-) O, Yes.... Smoking.... Cigarettes ... “Don’t see don’t tell” as long the Captain is not accommodated by it ... Other drugs.... NOT on or near the boat!!!
