[ closed ] Gibraltar to Las Palmas (or stretches in between) Gibraltar to Canary Islands ref 13749

Andrew Tucker wants 1 crew for Voyager II, Oyster 46 2009, m.

From Gibraltar , Gibraltar to Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

September 2022 to November 2022.

Hi if you are looking for some miles, experience or simply the enjoyment of making way in the warm western Atlantic, we are seeking 1 additional person to augment our crew particularly for passages between Morocco and Madeira and then to the Canaries. In a nutshell, because of my shortage of Schengen days, the Plan is to leave Gibraltar and the explore and enjoy the north of Morocco for 10 days or so. Other than Tangier this looks as though it may be difficult from a boat so perhaps hire a car for a few days and go explore as well as enjoy Tangier. I would like to have a go at learning Wing foiling if the opportunity arises on the coast there of that or kite surfing might be up your street. Then make the approx 600nm passage to Madeira and spend a 7-10 days there exploring by boat and land. Next the shorter 250Nm passage to the Canaries, anticipated first landfall being La Palma and then spend 10 days or so meandering the car at islands before arriving at Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to ready for the ARC. This plan is flexible as are the dates associated. Expenses. Travel to and from boat at your expense. Food and Bev’s shared both aboard and ashore. Primary boat expenses covered by skipper. I prefer to anchor where possible to minimise costs. If we visit anywhere in particular to suit crew desires, I’d be happy to share associated marina costs.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader

Total people on board: 3-4

Crew roles: Crew roles: My aim is to enjoy every bit of this long awaited sail around the world. Good company is therefore imperative as well as a suitable level of sailing experience. You will be happy to share all aspects of day to day life on board, from watches, sail trimming, cooking, washing up, cleaning, and where appropriate, maintenance. While I want to enjoy fun and laughter all the way where possible, safety is a key factor. I have recently undertaken mca first aid at sea and medical care at sea courses and have a comprehensive mediare offshore medical kit on board. My objective is not to use it! You will therefore naturally display a good level of responsibility towards the safety and well being of yourself and your crew mates. Ideally you will have RYA yacht master or equivelent qualifications and have demonstrable experience of time and experience on board boats ideally of different sizes. I am open to team work on all aspects of life on board, am certainly not a know it all and would my crew members to be similar. If you have any additional skills, training or experience which could benefit the team, please put those forward to. If you are interested, I look forward to talking with you to see how we get on. Thank you Andrew
