From Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia.

January 2025 to April 2027.

We will participate in the World ARC 2025/2026 until about May 2026 where we will break from the group in Fiji and sail to New Zealand in October 2025 for some cruising there. We will lay up the boat in New Zealand for a while and start cruising the South Pacific in April 2026 to join the World ARC 2026/2027 in Australia in July 2026. A detailed plan is available but is being refined currently. Kincsem is an extremely well equipped Amel 55 from 2016 and I have cruised her for over 25,000 miles since she was new in 2016. She has proven her seaworthiness many times and is very comfortable in all conditions and perfectly maintained. She won Class A of the Cruising Division in the 2023 ARC. The plan is to share ratably the costs of food and drink while I will pay the cost of the boat, such as docking, diesel, maintenance, repairs and equipment. I will pay the World ARC fees.

Crew roles: I am looking for a small number of experienced sailors to join me and some friends during this circumnavigation. Selection criteria for the ideal team mate include, in no particular order: • sailing skills – Kincsem has 7 sails, including 4 downwind sails (Code 0, Parasailor, ballooner for double headsail rig and mizzen staysail) and is sailed very actively. • a cheerful, can do attitude • eagerness to participate in all aspects of running the boat and the trip, be it maintenance, cooking, cleaning, repairs, organization of shore excursions, etc • fitness, including an interest in going on challenging hikes and excursions ashore. • navigation skills – although I do all the navigating normally, I am more than happy to share and want another person on the boat who is able to navigate the boat if necessary. • technical skills – I have an engineering background, but always appreciate team members with the ability to fix things on board • cooking and provisioning skills • willingness to learn about every aspect of a complex boat I am looking for both women and men to join and would welcome couples. My preference is for long term commitments as I would like to minimize crew changes and maximize familiarity with the boat.
