Ken Smail wants 1 crew for SOJOURNER, Shannon 37, 1987, 12m.
From Lagos, Portugal to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia.
September 2014 to December 2014.
The crew will join the boat in Lagos late September and plan a cruise to the Canaries. Possible stops include Morocco and Madeira. We have slip reservations in the Canaries for November 8th in preparation for the ARC. The next two weeks will be for social events and sailing seminars. The ARC fleet, consisting of 200+ vessels will leave for the 2800 nm passage to St. Lucia on November 23rd . The trip may take 21 days. The existing crew consists of three retirement age guys each of whom has blue water experience. Two of us participated in the 2014 ARC Europe on the boat. We are looking for an experienced sailor but not necessarily with a transatlantic trip in his/her resume. An easy going personality with a sense of initiative and cooperation would be important. We need a person with a sense of responsibility toward the boat and goodwill toward fellow crew members.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter
Sailing with a Rally: ARC – Atlantic Rally for Cruisers
I'm looking for (gender): either
Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: non-smokers only
Total people on board: 4
Crew roles: Watch keeping has been done in pairs and each team works out cockpit tasks: hourly log keeping, monitoring the wind vane, keeping a lookout, sail selection/trimming, etc. We can always use help cooking. There will be routine boat maintenance required. We can handle navigation and long range communication but knowledgeable assistance would be helpful
Money: expenses shared equally
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
