A 800 nm offshore passage in the Atlantic across the Gulf Stream to Bahamas. Great opportunity to practise weather routing, passage planning and passage making, while sailing offshore in a watch system. This passage is a YM Ocean qualifying passage. This passage will be a masterclass in weather routing and strategy and there are many options to choose from going south around Cape Hatteras and crossing the Gulf Stream. We will spend a few days transiting challenging waters with lots of commercial traffic, before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. Experience the offshore routine, commercial traffic, ocean waves, strong currents, rapidly shifting weather and working in a shift system. Keeping a good lockout and staying focused on watch is imperative. Suitable for all experience levels, competent crew and above. Itinerary: Baltimore , Chesapeake bay - Cape Hatteras - Landfall Bahamas - Nassau.
