Crew roles: I am registered blind. I have always wanted to sail across the Atlantic. My father was in the Merchant navy and Royal Navy during WW2 so I grew up listening to his tales of adventures on the sea and all over the World. I wanted to join the Navy when I left school but was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa which eventually led to total sight loss when I was about 40. I have got a guide dog called Jasper. He is my 4th guide dog. I was given the opportunity to sail with the Jubilee Sailing Trust on their tall ships Lord Nelson and Tenacious. This reignited my passion for sailing and the sea. I have sailed on catamarans and yachts in the Carribean and Meditteranean as well as the Scottish islands and Solent over the past 20 years. I set up a charity to raise money to buy my own boat to allow me to give other disabled people the opportunity to sail and increase their self confidence. I applied to do the ARC last year but we had to move house so I postponed participating in the race until this year. I need to find experienced non-smoking crew to help me sail to Gran Canaria. I am planning to take her across to France then down the canals to the Med. I have got an experienced sighted sailor to help me take her to France but I need at least 2 people to help navigate the canals. I can't do this on my own.
