Puerto Montt, Valdivia, Easter Island Joining in Puerto Montt we will head north to Valdivia where we will make the final preparations for our ocean passage to Easter Island. Back into the tropics and south easterly trade winds, this 2200nm voyage should take around 16 days. Time and weather depending we may call in at some other remote islands on the way, including Robinson Crusoe island - surely the remotest of any of its namesakes. We plan to arrive at Easter Island leaving plenty of time for exploring. A part of Polynesia, it is famous for its 887 giant statues made of volcanic rock that cover the island.
