We are taking our First 40.7 down to Gran Canaria ready for the ARC and are inviting crew to experience some exciting ocean sailing. Playing Around is a fully equipped race ready offshore racing yacht which has taken part in each of the RORC offshore races this year, including the Fastnet, She is fast and secure in heavy seas. The crew need to be reasonably experienced sailors for this passage. Biscay can be a little bouncy sometimes, so experience of sailing offshore is advisable. No problem if you don't feel hugely experienced, we can give you all the guidance and support you need. We depart from Haslar Marina Gosport and head West down the Channel before crossing the Bay of Biscay. Running down the coast of Portgual before our passage over to Gran Canaria. This passage will give you the opportunity to experience all aspects of an extended ocean passage. Each of our crew are involved in running the boat, with watch keeping, sail trim, helming and everything it takes to keep the boat fast! Logged miles will be just over 2000... There is every opportunity to take part in navigation and routing, with both electronic systems and our sextant for astro-navigation. You will have more than enough miles on this passage for your RYA Ocean Yachtmaster qualification.
