[ active ] Sail the Atlantic on a Classic Schooner Cape Verdes to Martinique ref 16072

wants 1 crew for Twister, Custom Built Schooner, m.

From Mindelo, Cape Verdes to Martinique, Martinique.

March 2027 to .

Sail the Atlantic on a 1902 Classic Schooner Join Ocean Nomad on board SV Twister for an offshore sailing adventure around the Atlantic. Twister is a 36-metre Dutch schooner built in 1902. She has sailed for more than a century and now combines her classic character with modern safety equipment and a professional crew. This is proper sailing, not a cruise. You'll be part of the crew, standing watches, taking the helm, helping with life on board and learning as you go. The full expedition covers around 9,250 nautical miles, from Amsterdam to the Caribbean and back via the Azores. Route: Amsterdam → Madeira → Canary Islands → Cape Verde → Martinique → Caribbean → Azores → Amsterdam You can join for individual legs or combine several legs, including the Atlantic crossings. You'll experience long offshore passages, trade winds, tropical waters, nights at sea and the kind of sailing you simply can't experience from land. You don't need to be an expert sailor. You do need to be willing to get involved, stand watches and live as part of a crew. Twister sailed thousands of miles offshore last season, including conditions up to 9 Beaufort. She's a serious ocean-going vessel, and safety comes first. A good opportunity if you're looking to: Cross the Atlantic by sail Build offshore miles Gain hands-on sailing experience Learn from an experienced professional crew Sail on a genuinely unique classic vessel with strong and legal safety compliance Travel between Europe and the Caribbean without flying If sailing across the Atlantic has been on your list for a while, this could be your chance to finally do it. Get in touch for available legs, dates and full details.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): either

Cabins/Sleeping : own cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: smoking allowed

Total people on board: 15

Crew roles: We’re looking for curious, easy-going people who genuinely want to be at sea. You don't need years of sailing experience. We welcome people who are keen to learn, get involved and become part of the crew. Life onboard means sharing watches, cooking, keeping the boat tidy, helping each other and adapting to whatever the ocean throws at us. We value people who are independent, respectful, practical and good at living together in a small space for an extended period. A positive attitude matters more than having a long sailing CV. Some sailing experience is a plus, especially for the longer offshore legs, but enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important. Ocean Nomads brings together people who love sailing, slow travel, nature and adventure — so expect an international crew and plenty of stories to share along the way.

Money: captain pays all expenses
