[ Cancelled ] Rolex Fastnet Race 2025 France to France ref 15152

CHALLENGE OCEAN wants 4 crew for Libertalia, Volvo 60, m.

From Lorient, France to Lorient, France.

July 2025 to August 2025.

Embark as a “high-flying” crew member on this yacht designed and built to race the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-02. Organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, one of the most prestigious yacht clubs on the planet, the Rolex Fastnet Race is one of the biggest ocean races. An event that takes place once every two years, in odd-numbered years, departing from Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Since 2021 edition, the finish is judged in Cherbourg and no longer in Plymouth as in all previous editions. More than 400 sailboats from 9 to 30 meters will line up in July 2025 on the line of the Royal Yacht Squadron. A sumptuous exit of the Solent, most often tacking to reach the Needles. The regatta is sensational and tactical along the English coast before reaching the Archipelago of Scilly. Then it is the crossing of the Irish Sea to roll up the impressive rock of the Fastnet planted with its lighthouse. Then follows the descent on the Scilly to go up the Channel to Cherbourg. The duration of boarding is about 11 days, including the qualification of 300 nautical miles from Lorient and the return delivery after the race to Lorient. The race starts from Cowes on the Isle of Wight and ends in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. Note that the outbound delivery from Lorient to Cowes will serve as a qualifying route for the crew and the boat, after agreement from the RORC. The Channel crossing for the return to Lorient will start from Cherbourg. At least 1/3 of the crew must have completed the World Sailing course (ex ISAF) which is valid for 5 years. If you wish to follow this 2-day training (sea survival, fire, medical, etc.), you can take it at CEPS in Lorient or in other places. The FFVoile license is compulsory with a medical aptitude for competition. Affiliated as “École Française de Croisière” with the French Sailing Federation, you can subscribe your Competition license with the CHALLENGE OCEAN Club.

Crew roles: Libertalia is a racing sailboat, an extreme boat, a Formula 1 of the seas with very spartan comfort. This demanding and powerful boat is aligned with the offshore racing starts, rated in IRC 0. We invite you to embark as a crew member on the Fastnet 2025 race as part of an amateur crew to cover some 695 nautical miles of racing, supervised by five professional sailors (skipper, Captain 200 Sailing, first mate, navigator). Whatever your level (sailing experience is needed), a competitive spirit is essential to enter such an event. Even if we could aim for the podium in the class, it is above all about sailing well and experiencing this grandiose race from the inside!
