From WILLEMSTAD, Curacao to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

November 2026 to December 2028.

I am buddy boating with another AMEL. Due to the complexities of an AMEL and not anxious to explain to/train new crew every 6 or 8 weeks I am looking for crew with "off shore" sailing experience and B) able to absorb AND retain quickly the sailing principles so we can leisurely cruise & buddy boat with another AMEL from DUTCH ABC Islands to our final destination which for both boats is the SEA OF CORTEZ. Our planned route is, so far, from CURAÇAO, SAN BLAS ISLANDS and then move via PANAMA thru PANANA CANAL (early 2027), either via HAWAII or via COSTA RICA, NICARAGUA, EL SALVADOR and GUATEMALA to the GULF OF CORTEZ in MEXICO. Of course, as mentioned earlier, this is a multi season "project" as we are not bound by schedules & obligations and will have several "shore breaks". There is a possibility, but NOT yet decided, that we (both AMELS) stay for another season in the CARIBBEAN before continuing to the PACIFIC side of the continent. Need somebody on board who is an ABSOLUTE EXPERIENCED deckhand and understands & enjoys the cruising lifestyle; not getting seasick; realizes & appreciates we are cruising NOT racing nor delivering a boat - we are not constantly adjusting & trimming sails to get better/maximum performance out of the boat. Somebody capable holding their own opinion w/o being argumentative; being able to have a good discussion etc. I am really not good at meaningless small talk; prefer an "intimate" silence while reading a book (I read a lot on my Kindle) etc. over just senseless blabbing. Hahahahaha - maybe not nice to say but straight forward to avoid misunderstandings. That said, it is extremely important to me to be able to laugh & have fun while doing this cruising; after all the main objective is to have a good time. Somebody able & willing to participate in every aspect of cruising: watches, provisioning, navigation, cleaning etc. Somebody PRO-ACTIVE, able to clearly communicate, understand the importance of keeping other crew and skipper informed/aware of what's happening/status of the boat (whether on watch or not, turning over watches etc.), express concerns/opinions etc. Safety ALWAYS comes first. After this, good sailing means to me feeling safe AND being comfortable on board which then allows for fully enjoying the life style of diving, snorkeling, the stars above at night, the smell of the ocean, and the sound of the wind and the waves. I will pay for ALL boat related expenses (fuel, maintenance, marinas, moorings, boat entry permits etc.). Crew responsible for their own travel to & from the boat, all their own necessary entry/exit visa's/permits, their own shore expenses etc. AND willing & able to fairly share the costs of daily victuals while on the boat.
