wants 2 crew for Velvet Lady, Oyster. 55, 17m.

From Oban, United Kingdom to Bodo, Norway.

May 2014 to June 2014.

Join us for some fantastic sailing as we head north this summer towards Norway. This is a unique opportunity to combine coastal cruising, ocean passage making and fjord sailing. In 2009 we made a stop in the Faroe Islands and in 2010, 2013 we stopped in the Shetland Islands on the way. The chance for these stops depends on the weather but the aim is to go via one of these two island groups. We start our trip from Dunstaffnage marina in NW Scotland and head north through the Hebrides, 350nm later we reach either Torshavn in the Faroe Islands or Lerwick in the Shetland Islands. The scenery of both these island groups is spectacular with sheer cliffs rising up from the sea. Many of these cliffs will be full of seabirds in May as we make our landfall. After a day spent exploring we will continue past the outlying islands and on towards the Norwegian coastline. From Faroe/Shetland north we will have 24 hour daylight. As we approach Norway majestic mountains rise from the sea and these are interlaced with sheltered fjords. We cross the Arctic circle and enter the land of the midnight sun. Our first stop will be Holandsfjorden, from the end of this spectacular fjord we can stretch our legs and walk to the Svartisen Glacier, skirting a lake of icy melt water. We continue north from here through the islands to our summer base Bodo, and keep our eye out for White Tailed Eagles on the way. We were thrilled on our passage in 2013 to see Minke Whales and 5 Orca as well as lots of dolphins, fingers crossed for this year.
