We will aim to depart (subject to weather) NZ around the 14th of March, after clearing customs at the Bay of Islands Marina. We will be sailing on top of a low pressure moving East to enjoy the Westerlies pushing us toward Polynesia and stay close to the roaring forties to avoid beating against the South East trade winds. Once arrived in the Gambier islands, the passages will be much warmer and easier than the first or second passage. Gambier Islands are located in French Polynesia. This is a place of quiet beauty, peacefulness and pride. Traditions thrive in this remote corner of the world so don’t expect 5-star hotel upon arrival, but the traditional Polynesian hospitality which has become famous amongst sailors. We will be spending a week in the Gambier Archipelago. No formal qualifications are required however for the first two long ocean legs, we are asking that all crew have completed at least a 500 mile ocean passage without seasickness.
