[ Cancelled ] Mexico to Seattle Mexico to United Kingdom ref 14056

wants 1 crew for Etoile du Sud, Benford 34 Junk Schooner, m.

From San Carlos or La Paz, Mexico to Seattle, WA, United Kingdom.

May 2023 to June 2023.

I am planning to move my Benford 34 junk schooner from San Carlos, Mexico to Seattle, WA, USA in May/June 2023. I am looking for one hardy crew member to share watches with. Water capacity and expected length of voyage (32 days according to Visual Passage Planner but I will plan on food/water for a longer voyage) suggest that I have sufficient storage for only 2 people - me and you! Water is the critical variable. The boat is designed for ocean cruising - sister ships have made many significant offshore passages. Besides the boat profile on this website, you can learn more about junks and "Badgers" (a sister ship) on the Junk Rig Association website. The cruise route will take us around the North Pacific High, avoiding the infamous garbage patch and ending up in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with the options of a quick visit to British Columbia or continuing directly to Seattle or Tacoma, depending on where I find moorage for my vessel. No smoking/no drug usage/no alcohol underway; expect vegetarian or canned food as regrigeration will not be available during the passage.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): either

Cabins/Sleeping : own cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: non-smokers only

Total people on board: 2

Crew roles: I am looking for a congenial person with as many relevant skills as possible (sailing, mechannical, cooking, etc.). Crew member should be capable of standing repeated watches for a long voyage. Reliable and easy going. Any gender. Non-smoking, no illegal drug usuage, no alcohol consumption on passage. Crew will pay own travel cost to get to the boat in Mexico, and back to your next destination after arrival in Seattle. I pay for food on board and all boat expenses. The more ocean sailing experience you have, the better. An interest or experience in sailing a junk would be desirable as the vessel is a junk schooner. If you are interested, we will arrange some time on the phone to get better acquainted before commitments are made at either end.

Money: captain pays all expenses

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
