Depart Sea of Cortez in May 2024 - destination Hawaii. The boat is currently in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico; you could join the crew in San Carlos in mid-April or in La Paz by May 1. Depart Hawaii June or July 2024 - destination Seattle. Experienced skipper needs 2 crew for a mostly downwind cruise - each leg 3-4 weeks. Time in Hawaii will depend on weather outlook and crew preferences. Vessel is a sister ship to Badger (search for Voyaging on a Small Income by Annie Hill), built with plywood and epoxy. Junk schooner rig - this is an opportunity to try out a favored rig of long distance cruising sailors. See boat profile for more information about the boat. Vessel equipped with VHF, satellite text communicator, EPIRB, autopilot, solar panels, Volvo engine, foldabote dinghy. No refrigeration underway to conserve power for the autopilot so we will be eating vegetarian, dried, and canned food. Start and finish dates are approximate and subject to negotiation with interested crew. Crewmembers responsible for travel to and from the boat; I will provide food onboard (not for shore visits), and take care of boat expenses including fuel and necessary repairs. You could volunteer for both legs of the voyage or just one.

Crew roles: Capable of standing watches day or night, and steering by hand should the autopilot fail. Share cooking and cleaning, pitch in as needed on any repairs. Experience in sailing offshore and with boat maintenance desirable. No smoking on-board or alcohol/recreational drug use underway. Easy going personality - prior experience in cruising or hiking expedition teams would be a plus.
