From Marmaris, Turkey to Saint Tropez, France.

June 2015 to July 2015.

Join in Marmaris, Turkey and spend 10 days pottering through the many islands of the Aegean Sea. We will visit Turkish coastal villages and Greek island harbours, soaking up the remnants of the ancient civilisations, before heading to Athens and the Acropolis. From there it's into the Corinth Canal, a chasm carved out of bedrock as a short cut into the Ionian Sea. Next stop is Kefalonia, immortalised by the great book Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and known as the most beautiful Greek island (and home to the most beautiful people). Across the Ionian, past the boot of Italy and on to Sicily, where we will call in at the delightful Syracuse, before heading north, through the Messina Straits and on to the Aeolian Islands, which include Stromboli, a rather active volcano and other rarely visited but very pleasant island communities. The seafood here is divine, and tuna keep jumping on the hook! After a few days in the Aeolians, it's on to mainland Italy, where we will take in the ruins at Pompeii and the magnificenct splendour of Rome, you'll need a couple of days! Westwards again and across the Tyrrhenian Sea for a week in northern Sardinia and southern Corsica, highlights are the Maddalena Archipelago, Bonifacio and the many inlets and bays. Finally an overnight hop across the Gulf of Lion to the south of France arriving in St Tropez. Here we finish but Monaco, Cannes and Nice are but a short coastal train hop away.
