[ closed ] Mediterranean Adventure Italy to Spain ref 14583

Richard Staite wants 2 crew for So What I, Nautitech 40.2, m.

From Marina di Ragusa, Italy to Motril, Spain.

June 2024 to July 2024.

Crew required- In early June 2024 we will be travelling from Southern Sicily to Motril in Spain stopping briefly in each of the following locations:- Bizerte in Tunisia, Sardinia, the Balearics and a couple of stops on the Spanish coast. We are looking for 2 crew members to help us with this passage and are hoping to find a couple to help us on this adventure. You must be competent sailors with previous experience in the Med and able to stand solo night watches confidently. The captain (age 63) has been sailing for many years and has had extensive experience in the UK and the Med and is married to a very willing student (age 61) who is continually learning but has almost no sailing experience - hence the reason we are looking for experienced crew to assist us. During the passage, the captain will always be open to suggestions, but ultimately the final decision will rest with the captain. Safety is paramount. We have Starlink on board but this is considered an extra and a contribution will be required towards its use whilst in priority data locations (Usually more than 20nm from shore). The boat has 4 cabins, 2 heads with integral showers, a saloon area and a cockpit. We are a very clean and tidy couple. Duties would include help and assistance with all sailing activities including night watches and responsibility for the cleanliness of own heads and cabin. Provisioning for this passage will be based around the understanding that all crew members will eat a full and varied diet and eat meat/fish/dairy and other foods. Sharing of cleaning and cooking duties required. We would prefer non smokers but considerate vaping will be considered in outdoor areas. This is an unpaid opportunity. Expenses covered by the captain are: food on board (Pre-planned provisioning for days at sea), fuel, repairs and port levies (customs and clearance expenses) and docking/marina/mooring fees. Personal expenses and particular likes or requirements for extra -to planned provisioning or expenditure while ashore are not covered by the captain. Travel expenses to and from the boat are the responsibility of the applicants. Personal hygiene is a necessity. Applicants must ensure that passports have a minimum of 12 months validity and you must also ensure that all visa validity is checked and adhered to. During the passages that are within Schengen countries you will be required to ensure that you have enough Schengen days left to comply with requirements. A sailing résumé and references would be required in order for us to evaluate potential crew. We hope that everyone will enjoy the opportunity for individual downtime as well as plenty of enjoyable times together. We maintain a dry boat while on passage. No weapons of any kind will be allowed or any illegal drugs. We are keen to see applications (In whatever form you are comfortable with) from anyone who thinks that they might meet the above criteria and are looking for a sailing adventure next year. Upon arrival at our destination we will all clean the boat down and you will need to find your own accommodation or to have made travel arrangements for onward passage within 2 days. We are extremely excited about this trip and hope that you will able to join us on our journey.
