[ Cancelled ] Marconi Transatlantic 2016 Canada to United Kingdom ref 6613

Spartan Ocean Racing & Training wants 12 crew for Challenger, Whitbread/Volvo 60, 18m.

From St.John's, Canada to Falmouth, United Kingdom.

October 2018 to October 2018.

In 1901 Guglielmo Marconi sent the first wireless transmission across an ocean between a transmitter station just outside Falmouth, England to Cabot's Tower in St. John's Newfoundland. It was a simple three dots the Morse code for 'S' but it started a revolution we are still in the throes of now. To celebrate this achievement Spartan Ocean Racing has created the Maconi Transat Event which we run each year sprinting back down that famous transmission's path flying across the Atlantic at it's narrowest point between North America and Europe. For the 12 sailors on board this is an unparalleled opportunity to get on board a true ocean-going greyhound doing what these boats do best- eating up the miles offshore. This event will be skippered by the hugely experienced round the world sailor Chris Stanmore-Major and with two days of dedicated safety training before departure will still only take less than 12 days.

Spartan Ocean Racing & Training is currently based in Canada
