Velvet Adventure Sailing wants 4 crew for Velvet Lady, Oyster 55, 17m.
From Madeira, Portugal to Azores, Portugal.
March 2018 to April 2018.
There are 550 nautical miles of open North Atlantic ocean between Madeira and the Azores Island of San Miguel. In March, the wind blows mainly from the north , varying between north west and north east. This often leads us to do quite a lot of tacking and gybing on the way and we may arrive in San Miguel with the log reading well over 700! This is not a course but a real chance to give you a taste of ocean sailing and to learn by experience. To add to the adventure we aim to stop at two other Atlantic Islands on the way – Porto Santo to the North East of Madeira and Santa Maria to the south of San Miguel. You will gain miles for your log book and experience taking part in a watch system. Enjoy sailing and the beauty of being at sea. Practice helming in challenging conditions Watch fabulous sunrises and sunsets – enjoy moonlit starry nights. Practice your navigation and feel the thrill of finding a tiny island in the Atlantic A perfect opportunity to try some true trade wind ocean sailing in the sunshine as we head out into the Atlantic Ocean from Madeira. If you've thought about doing the ARC but not had the time this trip will give you a flavour. Fully participate in a watch system and learn about ocean sailing for 4 days as we sail around the clock. This open water passage is approximately 550 nautical miles. This is a commercial trip on an MCA coded vessel with your professional Skipper and Mate Lin and Richard. Join us in Madeira on 28th March and disembark Pontedelgarda on San Miguel on April 7th The cost is £1195 pounds sterling.
