John Williams wants 2 crew for FARAWAY2, 48 ft steel schooner, 15m.
From mar del plata, Falkland Islands to puerto Montt, Chile.
December 2016 to May 2017.
A wonderful opportunity to cruise in a splendid and varied part of the world. Voyage starts here in Mar del Plata, Argentina ASAP (20/12--read on to see why)and continues with three stops along this wild and barren coast of east Patagonia to Puerto Deseado before a 2 day passage takes us to the Falkland Island (permission obtained to visit and return to Arg. )to the south before crossing to the Falkland Islands-with wonderful sheltered anchorages, and unique wildlife such as penguins --4 species -and many varied birds and seals too. This listing has been here before but crew got sick and could not continue so urgently if you applied before please try again. Need crew IMMEDIATELY Well a 2day passage after a week or cruising to the west island of the falklands brings us to a gem of an alpine island -Isla de Los Estados -for wonderful hiking opportunities or just enjoying the splendid waterfalls around this magnificent protected bay.. Then follows Le Maire STraits, Baia España and Harberton on the Argen tina side of the Beagle channel before Ushuaia --the southern most city in the world. Clear out for a short sail down the Beagle to Puerto Williams to clear into Chile and with the to Glacier Circuit of the Beagle to visit a voyage you'll always remember. Glaciers off the Carwin ice capice and others spilll into the tidal waters here. Then it is off into the famous7histoiric and scenic passage - Estrecho de Magalanes-- before the 1000 miles or so of Patagonia inner passages. (my 8th transit so know what trees to tie to!) An unique curising region with nightly anchorages and some detorus to visit more glaciers and also the world famous Torre del Pine Park of Chile. splendid/spectacular domes 6000 ft high with azure lakes and blueish glaciers are high points here. At the north end of thie ommer àssage like we'll reach the pastoral field and island communities of Chiloe. A different cruising region where the tremendous volcanoes off to the east give this region a different beauty. Rushing rivers and large lakes and this splndid calm curising region sheltered from winter Pacific storms by the large 100 mile long island of Chiloe---a true inland sea of these small islands with native friendliy Chiloeans . Puerto Montt lies at the extreme north of this patagonian passage- our destination --reached around early May or sooner. for this part of the voyage. I do plan after a winter stay over here another Pacific crossing to Alaska via Japan but that's for later. (

Total people on board: 1
Crew roles: Well one that won't get sick and leave without notice as this one did today--20/12- Had good weather for departure tomrrow but weather now seems settled now so if leave ASAP more N winds and those are favoarble. -just arrived from uruguay. can help me with al phases of what is the end of another world cruise for me. Say from cooking, galey chores (shared) to navigation and some night watches off this east argentina coast. sail handling and boat handling too in sometimes strong and varied conditions At times under power especially when entering the many welcomed smal bays that line this route--say one every 20 miles or so. Now one needs to have the ability to get into and out of a small 10! Avon skiff from the deck via a small ladder. Help to deploy shore lines and retrive them is a must--veru easy and require little strngth. . Other departing crew thought she could get off on docks all the time at the Patagonia anchorages . that is not the case!.One can get off very well with the skiff so to hike or get close to some glacier . . For the gals now , I'm not looking for a relationship but just help with the vessel especially in the channels where laying out the shore lines is a two man procedure. easy enough as mentioned but to enjoy the cruise you should love the outdoors and scenic beauty of the place. Historic too and without doubt a must read here is the excellent blog of my good friends on the sailing vessel Mollymawk ( see www dot mollymawk dot com) it is a wonderfully written description of the first part of the voyage and with the historic nature of the passages it makes for very interesting reading. I've transited these channels 7 times now and once solo in the winter wasn't fun so if you can handle small skiff, and control the vessel as i'm forward with anchoring then get in touch but ASAP- like tomorrow and you're on. for an experience that you'll always cherish. Not an expedition but a wonderful adventure. but get in touch before Xmas for sure-certainly before the new year this adv. goes out to all the usual sites. Thanks Crewless John. Oh, Best consider calling me on a skype connection as can't get PC working here in Mar del Plata. I'm at the YCA marina--anchored out and you can see picture of the place--nice friendly with nice small club house and a very nice restaurant with bar. and can set up a time for a chat. Those who have written before I'm sorry that I didn't get back but had this D crew so try again. please. I'll all tose a short note tomorrow but need to move boat out in the morning to anchor her. . Thanks . expenses lets plan on sharing the food. the vessel is entirely stocked and ready to go tomoorrow HA D Crew. though but a reasonable amount would work say $5 a day or so. orif a light eater less and for the airfare. I'll cover cost back as this resent example shows it is not wise to cover cost down. she paid but left early in my trips i paid for all and that didn't work!!! pretty nice vacation though for little expense. Flying into Buenos Aires is quite reasonable and bus to here is only about 4 hours and those are top rate beautiful buses. So for very little you'l have a voyage that the charter yachts charge thousands for -Sure they are very nice but we get to stop in all sorts of places and you can help decide where. Need to talk call YCA and we can. Would prefer a gal but getting tired of those that get sick or can't stand a little discomofort and do a little work--not looking for a backpacker either. but someone that enjoys this tyhpe of sailing and this spectacular part of the world. hoe to see you soon.
