[ Cancelled ] Dessus Adventure Poland to Canary Islands ref 12906

wants 2 crew for Dessus, Sunreef 60, m.

From Gdansk, Poland to Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

to .

Be part of handover of Dessus (sea trials), shake down of boat, instruction of new owners to gain Yacht Master Practical Qualification (already has theory), accompany owners to Gran Canaria for early November 2021 in preparation for ARC Transatlantic. Most likely will be required to complete Transatlantic passage with owners for insurance purposes (yet to be confirmed). We believe this is an exciting opportunity for the right individual/s (ideally as a pair - skipper and mate) to assist two new boat owners to gain the relevant competence required to sail this boat safely.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Ocean Sailing Instructor

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): either

Cabins/Sleeping : own cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: smoking allowed

Total people on board: 4

Crew roles: We need to be taught to the RYA standard for Yacht Master Offshore practical as well as help us brush up on Yacht Master theory to allow us to gain the Yacht Master offshore qualification in Las Palmas pre setting off on ARC 21 Transatlantic. We are not looking for a captain as we want to captain the vessel ourselves. On day 1 we imagine we will be doing 5% of the work/decision making and with the help of the instructor/captain will quickly gain competence and confidence in managing the vessel ourselves. We are under no illusion we have a lot to learn and very excited about this opportunity and clearly want to make the process of learning the boat and becoming Yacht Master competent a pleasurable experience that would be to the mutual benefit of both us and the crew on board. The ideal candidate will have substantial ocean miles under their belt, will have a pleasant manner with an easy going personality and used to teaching novice sailors. They should have experience of sailing a large multihull and ideally been part of a new boat handover. We want the watch leader/assistant to the instructor to take care of some of the cooking/general duties about the boat to give us both as much time as possible for the learning of the sailing and systems part of the boat as clearly we will have a lot to learn in the first few months. Whilst the boat does have crew accommodation on the assumption that the guest cabins aren't being used, we would be happy for the crew to use the guest cabins. We will provide food and non-alcoholic drinks when on board during the duration of the contract, which we can discuss. Ideally a non-smoker, however, if we decide the right person is a smoker, we would only accept smoking off the back of the boat.

Money: paid position

Travel to and from boat: negotiable
