Joshua Teas wants 2 crew for Scattergood, Hallberg Rassy 46, 15m.

From Charlotte Amalie, Virgin Islands - US to Papeete, French Polynesia.

March 2016 to June 2016.

Crew wanted for some enjoyable adventure sailing aboard Hallberg Rassy 46 'Scattergood' as we head west this winter: March 2016: USVI - Panama April 2016: Panama - Galapagos April-May 2016: Galapagos - French Polynesia Some sailing experience is a must and offshore knowledge a big plus but looking mostly for smart, open-minded individuals who can contribute energy and ideas to the sailing adventure. Amateur marine biologists, SCUBA divers, gourmets, astronomers, surfers... welcome. The boat is a fantastic Hallberg Rassy 46 from 1999, Swedish built and very strong. The boat has a center cockpit with a nice secure helm position and a hard dodger/windshield. Down below the interior is spacious with two bunk rooms forward and owners cabin aft. The boat has a diesel generator, electric furling mainsail, the latest chart plotter and AIS, Autopilot, complete up-to-date safety equipment, etc. The boat is excellent condition and is fully insured.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender):

Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board:

Total people on board: 4

Crew roles: I need two to three crew members with some offshore experience to stand watch. You should be comfortable at the helm in a seaway and operating under engine power, trimming sails and deciding when a sail change is necessary, and doing some basic navigation: particularly judging the approach of other vessels. I do not work crew doing boat maintenance or anything. I’m democratic about the lifestyle and decision making and what people do is for the most part up to them. We tend to take turns cooking and cleaning up but if we luck out with someone who wants to run the galley then thats great. We have had very good group dynamics on board for the sail from the Med and across the Atlantic and I hope to continue this success. The way we handle the money is that crew pays a fixed weekly amount for the more predictable expenses while groceries and marinas, which vary depending on where we decide to go, are added up periodically and shared between everyone on board. The fixed amount is $175 per week ($25/day) and helps pay for diesel, cooking gas, outboard gas, water, boat supplies, medicines, cruising permits, customs and immigration fees, and the insurance. Groceries and marina dockage/electricity are tallied up and split. I don’t expect to stay at any marinas once we are in the Pacific and groceries will be limited to a couple large provisionings before the passages so I expect the cost to be well under $100/wk each.

Money: daily contribution from crew $25

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
