[ closed ] BVI to Freeport to NYC Sint Maarten to United States ref 13150

Ludwig Hoogstoel wants 2 crew for Ataraxia, 2006 Etap 46ds, m.

From Fort Louis, Sint Maarten to Stamford, CT, United States.

January 2022 to .

Ataraxia is scheduled to do the ARC January with arrival in Saint Lucia end of January. Anita and Ludwig will sail her north through the Carib ending in Saint Martin/Sint Maarten middle of April. The summer dock for Ataraxia will be on Long Island Sound. Ataraxia is looking for experienced crew for the following legs : Legs 1 and 2 : BVI (or perhaps Sint Maarten) to Turks and Caicos and then Turks and Caicos to Freeport Bahamas. Each leg is approximately 450 nm. Timing for this part is late April/mid May. Leg 3 (and perhaps 4) : Freeport Bahamas to Long Island Sound. This leg is 900 miles but since we are following the Eastern Seaboard, we can tuck in as required, particularly when passing Hatteras. This could make this a 600 + 300 mile leg with a chance to switch crew as needed. Due to a family event, the boat will be staged in Freeport Bahamas for about 2 weeks over the Memorial Day weekend 2022. Each leg is 'about a week' (the first legs are actually less sailing days, while the passage from Bahamas to the Sound is more likely a 'solid week')

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): male

Cabins/Sleeping : own cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: smoking allowed

Total people on board: 3 or 4

Crew roles: While positive attitude and 'fit' (keywords would be 'respectful, 'calm', 'reliable') are more important than sailing certifications, we need experienced crew, who can stand individual watches and either have some 'ocean' experience or are 'ready' for it. Ocean sailing is demanding so physical fitness and health are key. Flexibility in timing are important. While the first legs are more easily 'planned' (in terms of weather) the leg from Bahamas northbound follows the Gulfstream and rounds Hatteras, so we want to leave early in June with a good forecast. Crew who can commit for more legs make planning easier, but strictly speaking each leg can be an 'individual opportunity', definitely the leg north of the Bahamas in June. So in all, we may take on several crew on a rotating basis. Reliability is key, as we need to coordinate. Vaccination is a given (the islands require it). Ataraxia is a 'dry boat' while on passage. The captain is very safety conscious so expect a 'safety first' approach.

Money: captain pays all expenses

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
