[ Cancelled ] Azores – Madeira -Tenerife Portugal to Spain ref 15043

Sailing Round the World wants 4 crew for S/Y Celeste of Solent, Farr65r, m.

From Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel - the Azores, Portugal to Marina San Miguel, Tenerife, Spain.

September 2024 to September 2024.

We start our this 17 days sail from São Miguel in early September and set course for Santa Maria, the southernmost of the Azorean islands, 100 NM south of Ponta Delgada. From Santa Maria, it’s approximately 500 NM to Porto Santo, which is part of Madeira. After Porto Santo, we continue to Madeira – the green island far out in the Atlantic. After Madeira, we might stop at Ilhas Desertas or Salvagem Grande (both nature reserves belonging to Portugal) before sailing on to the Canary Islands. From Madeira to the Canary Islands, it is 300 NM, and if we have time our first stop will be on the island of La Palma. After visiting La Palma, we sail on to Tenerife.

Crew roles: As a crew member on board Celeste of Solent, you become part of the team and are involved in everything from steering and navigating to cooking. We sail in watch teams where you are on watch for three hours and off watch for six hours. You do not need experience from sailing off shore, but you should have some experience from sailing or being on a boat before. We are a total 12 crew members on board, including permanent crew, except on the longer ocean crossings when we are in total 14 crew members. There are no private cabins on Celeste, but on board you have your own berth for shorter routes. On the longer passages, over the open sea with night sailing, we sail in watch teams. Under way, it is most comfortable to sleep in the aft because the boat moves the least there. Therefore, we alternate between the berths in the aft when we sail in watch teams. S/Y Celeste of Solent is equipped with all compulsory safety equipment including personal safety equipment such as life jackets and safety harnesses.

Money: voyage cost $2900

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
