[ Full ] Atlantic Crossing 2014 Canary Islands to Martinique ref 2457
Fritze von Berswordt wants 2 crew for Alytes, Lagoon 400, 12m.
From Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands to Port de Marin, Martinique.
November 2014 to December 2014.
Our family of three will take Alytes over the ocean. We will team up with Jimmy Cornells Atlantic Odyssey from Lanzarote to Martinique in November 2014. Fritze (41), Heide (42) and Mina (7) are relaxed sailors. Safety, comfort and a little bit of speed just in case we get another boat in sight will be our priorities. We do plan to really enjoy the trip; so Alytes will be loaded up with a nice selection of food and drink to make sure the sometimes long atlantic days get cheered up with great meals. We do plan to catch some of the big ones waiting out there. We won't charge a dime for the trip, but we do kindly ask you to equally contribute our shared provisions bill. As we plan to take more crew on board to ease the stress of small crew watches, we look for experienced sailors being able to lead a watch on an atlantic crossing. It would be helpful, if you have at least 500 miles of experience at the helm. Depending on the number of crew joining, you will share a typical "double bunk". Alytes being a catamaran, rolling (and therefore night-time sea-state-initiated surprise hugs) shouldn't happen a lot. We are sailing with a then eight year old girl, so be prepared to interact with one ;-). In the best case, you enjoy being around kids. Alytes is very well equipped with all things medical. But since we are no doctors and our crew will be small, we do prefer healthy crew members which are physically and mentally fit. Please excuse that we could not risk to take anyone on board with serious physical conditions or any mental issue. We don't smoke, but it will be perfectly OK to smoke outside.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader
Sailing with a Rally: Independent
I'm looking for (gender): either
Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: smoking allowed
Total people on board: 5
Crew roles: Basically, its all about leading two three hour watches twice every 24 hours (watch plan will be detailled later). As Alytes is in good shape, there shouldn't be too much of a hassle with her. But as ocean-crossings go, there may be issues and in case of emergency we do need every hand on board. We do plan to share cooking / cleaning duties. Not so much in a fully planned style, more in the manner of a relaxed "everybody-has-a-good-sense-when-it-is-their-turn"-basis. Some words concerning the process: As there are quite a lot of interested folks, we will need to make a choice. We will get in touch with everyone asking for some more info and definately decide by the end of January 2014. I hope that this will be early enough for everybody to find alternatives. Unfortunately I noticed, that this site's communication is quite limited. So please excuse the rather impolite "touch-button-decline" when we have the feeling that we are not the right fit for you. I'd love to email, but it doesn't seem possible.
Money: expenses shared equally
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
