John & Vicki De Margheriti wants 3 crew for Josie Maria, Oyster 575, 17.89m.

From Palma de Mallorca, Spain to , Saint Lucia.

October 2013 to December 2013.

Hi! Our names are John and Vicki De Margheriti, a married couple in our early 50’s who have recently purchased a brand new Oyster 575 “Josie Maria” and operate as joint skippers. We are on a year long voyage making our way back to Sydney, Australia. We are looking for 2-3 experienced crew to sail with us and our 21 year old son and his friend (who are new to sailing) totalling 6-7 on board for the ARC+ cruising rally. We are registered for the ARC+ rally and hope to make it, but we are running out of time and may need to leave later across the Atlantic Flights to Palma de Mallorca and out of Saint Lucia will be paid for by us, including all meals. You can see our adventures to date on our blog below. We are a fun couple, with not a lot of ocean sailing experience, who are looking for experienced crew, with the expertise to manage the yacht alone on watch, and at least one crew member who can skipper the boat if John and I are out of action. We are in Palma de Mallorca carrying out maintenance and repair work and from here we plan to set sail to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to join many other boats who will be doing the new ARC + rally. Planning to arrive pre 3rd November – earlier if possible. We will consider crew who are interested in only the ARC+ as well as crew are only interested in the Palma de Mallorca to Las Palmas, but our preference will be for crew who is able to do the whole leg. Here is a summary of our dates: October 21st - new crew arrives in Palma de Mallorca, welcomed by us. We will pay your airfare to join us and depart Saint Lucia October 22nd - half day briefing on Josie Maria so that crew can familiarise themselves with an Oyster 575 and departure in the afternoon. Total crew will be John and Vicki plus 2-3 experienced crew taking total people on board to 4-5. We will need one crew member to have the experience to step up as skipper, but would normally take the role of First Mate. October 30th - arrive in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. We will be joined by two additional inexperienced crew taking total people on board to 6-7. 4th November - ARC+ office opens and shore-side activities start 10th November ARC + starts from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 15th November . First arrivals at Cape Vedes, Mindelo Marina (short stop over) 20th November ARC+ restarts from Mindelo Marina, Cape Verdes onwards to Saint Lucia 2-5 December. Approximate arrival dates for 'average' ARC+ boats (12-16 days crossing but we are likely to be 16 days) to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia 6th December ARC+ finish line closes at 1200 local time 7th December ARC+ prize giving ceremony in Saint Lucia 10th December ARC+ crew depart Josie Maria
