[ active ] Dodecanese Islands Greece to Greece ref 15001
Gerry Williams wants 2 crew for Lowana, Fontaine Pajot, Helia 44, m.
From Samos, Greece to Kos, Greece.
August 2026 to September 2026.
We will spend this season sailing the Dodecanese Islands from Samos to Rhodes and perhaps a little further west. Between 15 July and 8 August there will only be 2 people on board so there are 2 empty cabins for interested people who want to do easy island and bay hopping between Samos and Kos The plan is to travel pretty slowly with the wind, stopping in many bays – where is stop will be agreed as we go along – I have no fixed plan. We avoid marinas and ports for overnight as I prefer the quietness and cost of bays but will definitely visit many towns / villages as we travel along. We typically cook and eat on board 2/3 or 3/4 nights and eat in tavernas the other nights. On top of that we visit to sightsee or have lunch or a drink/s at other times. At anchor, on board we have 2 kayaks and 2 SUPs plus snorkels and fins. I am the owner of Lowana and will have a male friend, Dave, on board for that time. Just to fill the picture for you, he will get off on 8 Sept and my wife will board and thereafter we will have a few different friends on and off. I am looking for or considering taking on 1 or 2 people for the first 1-3 weeks just to add some variety to the conversation and have fun getting to know new people, rather than Dave and I getting bored having breakfast / lunch and dinner together alone for 3 weeks. We are not looking for anything else ! What do we do on a daily basis – island visiting as described above. For me, I like to keep active and swim, paddle etc and chill during siesta time. Dave likes to keep busy doing stuff on the boat (so a great crew to have). Lowana is a non-smoking boat; I am a pretty light drinker but struggle to let a sunset go past without toasting it. Dave likes to toast it a bit more than me. So, it’s a pretty relaxed island and bay hopping trip rather than a lot of sailing. In terms of contribution, I ask for E150/week as a general contribution to the boat which covers use of all the facilities, Greek cruising tax, water filters etc. We then split all the variable expenses – food, general groceries, marinas (very seldom), possibly mooring balls, meals off the boat, fuel – which I calculate on the basis of hours run on the engines @ 5 liters /hour, alcohol – we can determine whether we all buy our own or split depending on drinking habits, and any other shared expenses. Obviously you get your own cabin. Contribution in the galley will be a must and much appreciated – the more the better as neither of us are great cooks. In terms of running the boat, I don’t need much but am quite happy for crew to take on roles and responsibilities and to share my knowledge. Let me know if you are interested in discussing further Cheers, Gerry
