[ Cancelled ] ARC 2024 Spain to Saint Lucia ref 15041
Sailing Round the World wants 1 crew for S/Y Celeste of Solent, Farr65r, m.
From Las Palmas, Spain to Rodney Bay Marina, Saint Lucia.
November 2024 to December 2024.
Celeste participated in the ARC 2017 and won her class – Class A. In 2023, we participated again, completing the crossing in just over 15 days and securing second place. In 2024, we’re aiming for the podium once more. The start is from Las Palmas on Sunday, November 24, 2024. We will gather on board starting from November 19, 2024, for preparations. The crew will meet on the boat between November 19-23 in Las Palmas. The actual start of ARC 2024 is on November 24. Most boats will finish in St. Lucia between December 10-15. The award ceremony will be on December 21. Sailing across the Atlantic requires extensive preparation, and there’s usually a lot to handle before departure, from grocery shopping to final boat preparations. The team prepares as much as they can during the service period before your arrival. They also take the lead in planning and purchasing food. Cost of food is not included in price and is shared among the crew. As a crew member, you’ll participate according to your ability in all activities on board, including planning, cooking, navigation, sail trimming, and steering the boat. We sail in watch teams, where you are on watch for three hours and off watch for three hours.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter

Crew roles: As a crew member on board Celeste of Solent, you become part of the team and are involved in everything from steering and navigating to cooking and cleaning. We sail in watch teams where you are on watch for three hours and off watch for six hours. You will develop as a sailor and learn more off shore sailing, navigation, route planning (given wind forecasts etc. We do not require prior experience from off shore sailing, but experience from sailing is preferable. Usually the crew have different level of knowledge and experience and we mix the watch team accordingly. Our skipper and first mate is always at hand to guide and help. We are a total 14 crew members on board, including permanent crew. There are no private cabins on Celeste. We sail in watch teams. Under way, it is most comfortable to sleep in the aft because the boat moves the least there. Therefore, we alternate between the berths in the aft when we sail in watch teams.
Money: voyage cost $7250
